Hi Christoph, tell us a bit about yourself!
I'm Christoph, but most people just call me Chris. I'm 35 years old, recently became a father, and originally grew up at the North Sea coast. I have gained most of my professional experience in traditional sales roles. I’ve been actively involved in building various startups and grown-ups, which required an exciting mix of creativity and structure. In my free time, I love discovering new places with my family and spending time in nature—whether by the coast, in the mountains, or hiking through forests.
How did you join us, and what attracted you the most?
What really drew me in was the combination of a dynamic, young startup and the expertise of an established company. Here, two worlds come together: years of industry experience and a fresh drive to make an impact. I found this mix fascinating from the very beginning because it allows you to work in an innovative environment while benefiting from solid expertise.
How was the application process for you, and do you have any tips for applicants?
The application process was truly unique — it didn't feel like a typical application process at all. Rather, it was an equal conversation that focused on the person, not just the curriculum vitae. The open and relaxed atmosphere was particularly pleasant. My tip for all applicants: Be authentic and show who you really are. It's about getting to know each other and finding out whether you fit — professionally and personally. Openness and honesty are key here.
How would you describe the vibes in our office, and what do you like about our work atmosphere?
The work atmosphere at pacemaker is truly special. The doors are always open—whether for questions or just a quick chat. What I appreciate most is the strong cross-team collaboration—you immediately notice that everyone is approachable and genuinely interested in you as a person. There’s no competition, just a strong sense of teamwork that’s reflected in our daily interactions.
What does your working day look like?
My workday is very diverse, and that’s what makes it so exciting. In the morning, I usually start with a quick check of my to-dos and priorities. Then, it’s often time for customer meetings—whether it’s acquiring new partners, maintaining existing relationships, or preparing for important presentations. A big part of my job is also developing solutions for our customers' individual challenges. And of course, there are regular internal alignments with other teams to ensure that we’re all pulling in the same direction.
What has been your most exciting project so far, or do you have a cool story about successful teamwork?
Since our product requires explanation, one project that stands out was with an industrial client. Our team had to function like a Swiss watch—every step was perfectly coordinated, and all departments worked seamlessly together. The exciting part was that we were able to win the customer much faster than initially expected. It was impressive to see how efficiently we can work as a team.
How does our company help you reach your full potential?
Pacemaker.ai gives me the freedom to organize my day mostly on my own. As a father, this is a huge relief because it allows me to balance work and family much better. At the same time, I feel that there is a lot of trust given to handle my responsibilities independently. And if I ever get stuck, the doors are always open—whether it’s management or my colleagues. This balance of flexibility and support is truly unique.
What’s your hidden talent that not everyone in the office knows about?
Would it still be a hidden talent if I revealed it here? ;) But to be honest: I'm pretty good at improvising—whether it’s during spontaneous presentations or when quick solutions are needed. It’s a skill that comes in handy, especially in sales.
What has been your personal highlight so far?
Definitely our team event in Portugal! Stepping away from the usual office or home office routine gave us the chance to get to know each other better. It was great to see colleagues in a different setting—away from Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoints, and meetings. The shared experiences brought us even closer together as a team.
What advice would you give to a future pacemaker?
Be open and curious! At pacemaker, you’ll find yourself in an environment full of exciting people and challenges. Take the opportunity to think outside the box and don’t be afraid to ask questions or share new ideas. Your opinion matters here, and every contribution makes a difference.
A big thank you to Christoph for sharing his exciting experiences! Look forward to more fascinating insights into the unique paths and experiences of our team at pacemaker.ai.
